The use of all-digital distribution networks are now common in the AV world, with most new installations featuring either HDBaseT, Crestron’s Digital Media or Extron’s solutions in this same space. But for people who still have legacy/analog networks in place, the benefits of this system are considerable too.
We’re now seeing several new components, products and “AV signal distribution solutions”, that are capitalising on the elegance of the HDBaseT solution (pushing, data, video, audio and control over a single CAT5e/6 ethernet cable), even as HDMI looks to upgrade to meet today’s needs.
One of these comes from Extron, who has introduced the IN1608 HDBT switcher featuring an HDBaseT-compatible output for streamlined integration with HDBaseT-enabled displays. But it’s not just a switcher, it’s also equipped with a multi-format video switcher, an advanced scaling engine, integrated Extron DTP twisted pair transmitter and receivers, a built-in mono or stereo 100 watt amplifier, comprehensive audio processing, and an advanced control processor that is uniquely expandable. The system can also be combined with additional IP Link Pro processors to create a large-scale control system which is ideal for controlling multiple systems, rooms, or even remote locations.
The system delivers high-speed processing and abundant control port capacity for complete, customised control of an entire AV system, including all source devices and displays, plus lighting, window shades, and projection screens.
The IN1608 allows fast-source switching as well as optimal image quality and detail via four HDMI inputs, two universal analog video inputs, and two DTP inputs. Three simultaneous outputs are provided – dual HDMI and one DTP output. The DTP inputs and output allow transmission of AV and control up to 330 feet (100 m) over a secure CATx cable.
Features are as follows :
All-in-one eight input switcher, scaler, audio processor, mono or stereo 100 watt amplifier, and control processor
Advanced audio switching and processing features
Broad selection of Extron DTP endpoints, which is available in a wide range of factors and video formats
Advanced control processor for complete AV system control
Output rates from 640×480 to 1920×1200, including 1080p/60 and 2K
Two mic/line inputs with 48 volt phantom power
Simplifies system design and installation, and reduces the client’s total cost of ownership
