Voice command, 2-way touch screen in one versatile controller

With the universal popularity of touch screens on mobile phones and other gadgets, the AV world has to be creative in enabling smartphones and touch screens as touch-sensitive control options.

However, in some cases, the controller needs to be available on a screen that can be mounted on the wall, in a lectern or in a tabletop. There is also a need for more advanced control options like the addition of controls and widgets or voice recognition to activate commands like “display on and off”. This is when specialized touch controllers come in handy.

Crestron meets all these expectations and more with the newly launched TSW 1052, which can bring touch control to your home, board room, classroom, courtroom, or command center. The device can control lights, shades, electronics, HVAC and security cameras, and many other AV and electronic devices. It’s a two-way communication panel, so feedback is also received about the real-time status of connected devices.

This controller has a large 10.1″ capacitive touch screen display, 5 soft-touch buttons and features simple Ethernet connectivity – including power over Ethernet (PoE). Hence, no local power source is needed and connectivity is sole via a LAN cable. Its built-in web browser allows access and easy checking of social media sites for quick facts and other online information. It can also receive streams of high-quality video, which makes it possible to view security cameras and other video sources right on the screen.
